Since 2007, NDUTH has delivered world-class tertiary medical care, training the next generation of healthcare professionals in the heart of Bayelsa State.
Originally established as a cottage hospital in 1982 in Okolobiri, Bayelsa State, the facility was upgraded to a General Hospital in 1996 and formally elevated to Teaching Hospital status in September 2007 — in line with the founding of Niger Delta University and its College of Health Sciences.
Today, NDUTH stands as the only tertiary teaching hospital in Bayelsa State, serving patients from the core Niger Delta region and neighbouring communities in Rivers and Delta States. Our 300-bed facility is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of specialists, consultants, and dedicated healthcare professionals.
Beyond clinical care, NDUTH is a premier hub for training all cadres of undergraduate health workers — including medical students, house officers, nurses, and paramedical students — with a relentless commitment to research that benefits humanity.
Our departments deliver specialist services with an emphasis on tertiary-level care, qualitative service delivery, and patient-centered outcomes.
